Dr Simone's Top 10 Wellness Tips

Hydrate with 3L of purified water each day. I always start with a litre jug of water with lemon, ginger, cayenne & kombucha so I measure the water I’m drinking each day. If I don’t make myself accountable I can forget to drink enough. Alarms on your phone are great until you make this a new habit.

Support your gut for mind and body wellness. More serotonin is produced in your gut than in your brain so for you to live a healthy happy life you need to support your gut. Eating fermented foods such as kefir & sauerkraut is great.

Get good quality sleep so you can detox completely from the day. Sleep in a blackened room or with an eye mask so you get good melatonin production which is linked to reducing stress, inflammation and mood disorders. Melatonin has also been linked to appetite regulation and reducing the growth of cancer tumours. Sunshine or sun lamps are also essential so you get the right mix of sunlight and darkness so your serotonin and melatonin ratios are at optimum.

Practise daily breathing techniques, for we know that disease grows in a de-oxygenated environment. Bellows breath, abdominal breathing or progressive visualisation techniques can be used; choose a system that works for you. All of us inhale daily but rarely exhale deeply to get optimum oxygen exchange to reduce stress/anxiety, release endorphins, reduce blood pressure and support detox. Laughter is also one of the best ways to oxygenate and grounding by walking on grass daily.

Support your metabolism by eating foods that have a thermogenic effect such as chilli, cayenne pepper, ginger, garlic, turmeric and all spices, such as in the Veggie Curry recipe provided. If you have a sluggish metabolism you may need to use a herbal metabolic support product.
